Our appointed gospel lesson begins with the words, “And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain apart.” But this story really begins a week earlier in Matthew, when Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do men and women say that I am?" And the story doesn’t end when Jesus and the three disciples come down the mountain.
